This figure is kneading bread or grinding corn and is Egyptian circa 2000BC. They were believed to be votive offerings rather than children’s playthings, placed in the tomb as servants to the Pharaoh in the afterlife.
The moving figures of the Ancient Egyptians, included people and a variety of animals such as mice, tigers and crocodiles.
